COMPASSIONATE, EVIDENCE-BASED SUPPORT

Depression & Mood Counselling

When you are struggling with depression or persistent changes in mood, even ordinary parts of life can begin to feel heavier. Counselling can provide a supportive space to understand what you are experiencing, reconnect with yourself, and begin moving toward meaningful change.

Support for Depression, Low Mood & Emotional Well-Being

Depression does not always look like constant sadness. It can show up as exhaustion, irritability, emotional numbness, withdrawing from people, losing interest in things you once enjoyed, difficulty concentrating, or simply feeling unlike yourself.

We support individuals experiencing low mood, depression, emotional numbness, and mood changes. Therapy focuses on understanding emotional patterns, strengthening coping skills, and restoring a sense of connection and purpose.

You do not need to wait until things feel overwhelming to reach out. Therapy can also help when you have simply noticed that life feels harder, flatter, or more difficult to engage with than it used to.

Depression Can Look Different for Everyone

People seek counselling for many different experiences related to depression and mood. Some of the concerns we can support include:

Low Mood & Sadness

Persistent sadness, feeling down, tearfulness, hopelessness, or a sense that things are unlikely to improve.

Loss of Interest or Motivation

Difficulty feeling motivated, enjoying activities, completing everyday tasks, or connecting with things that once mattered to you.

Emotional Numbness

Feeling disconnected, flat, emotionally shut down, or unable to experience the range of emotions you normally would.

Fatigue & Overwhelm

Feeling mentally or physically drained, struggling to get started, or finding everyday responsibilities increasingly difficult.

Self-Criticism & Low Self-Worth

Harsh thoughts about yourself, feelings of inadequacy, guilt, shame, or believing that you are not doing enough.

Irritability & Mood Changes

Increased frustration, irritability, emotional sensitivity, or changes in mood that are affecting your daily life or relationships.

How Therapy Can Help With Depression

Counselling is not about forcing yourself to “think positively.” Therapy provides space to understand what may be contributing to how you feel and to develop practical, sustainable ways of responding to difficult thoughts, emotions, and patterns.

Depending on your needs, therapy may focus on identifying patterns that maintain depression, developing coping and emotional regulation skills, improving self-compassion, strengthening relationships and support systems, rebuilding routines, and gradually reconnecting with activities, values, and experiences that give life meaning.

Your therapist will work collaboratively with you so that counselling reflects your experiences, goals, pace, and individual needs.

A Personalized Approach

Depression can be influenced by many factors, including stressful life experiences, relationships, loss, trauma, burnout, health changes, identity, and long-standing emotional patterns. Therapy is tailored to the person rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

Evidence-Based Therapy

Our clinicians draw from evidence-based therapeutic approaches based on each client’s needs. Treatment may include cognitive-behavioural, mindfulness-based, attachment-focused, emotion-focused, narrative, somatic, and other therapeutic approaches.
